The Niger State chapter of the Association of Local Government Information Officers in Nigeria (ALGIO) has elected new executives to steer the affairs of the association for the new administration.
The election followed a one-day capacity-building workshop for Local Government Information Officers and Media Aides, organised in collaboration with the Niger State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Niger State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The new executives, drawn from the three senatorial zones of the state, are:
- Adamu Abdullahi Kwali, Information Officer, Edati LGA — Chairman
- Samuel Isaec, Information Officer, Agwara LGA — Vice Chairman
- Abubakar el-Kurebe, Information Officer, Shiroro LGA — Secretary General
- Muhammed Ndanusa Isako, Information Officer, Wushishi LGA — Assistant Secretary General
- Huleira Sani, Information Officer, Munya LGA — Treasurer
- Salihu Karma, Information Officer, Bosso LGA — Public Relations Officer
- Ibrahim Umar, Information Officer, Katcha LGA — Organising Secretary
- Rabiu Usman Dukku, Information Officer, Rijau LGA — Auditor I
- Suleiman Barau, Information Officer, Lapai LGA — Auditor II
According to a statement signed by the Secretary General of the association, Abubakar Abdullahi el-Kurebe, and made available to THESTORIES, the outgoing chairman and Information Officer of Gbako Local Government Area, Adamu Zakariyya, congratulated the newly elected executives and urged them to approach their responsibilities with diligence, honesty, dedication and professionalism.
He also encouraged the new leadership to translate the knowledge and skills gained from the training workshop into improved performance in their respective local government areas.
In his acceptance remarks, the incoming chairman, Adamu Abdullahi Kwali, thanked the outgoing leadership for its contributions to the growth and stability of the association.
Kwali pledged that the new administration would build on the achievements of its predecessors while working to further strengthen the association and improve the professional capacity of its members.
He also commended the Niger State Council of the NUJ and the Niger State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for supporting the training workshop, describing the initiative as an important opportunity to strengthen the capacity of Local Government Information Officers and Media Aides.
The new ALGIO leadership pledged to promote professionalism, stronger collaboration, effective information management and better communication among Local Government Information Officers across Niger State.
