The Coalition of Shiroro Associations (COSA) and New Niger have inspected the ongoing 50-kilometre Dan-Daudu–Gwada–Kuta–Zumba road project in Niger State to assess construction quality and verify compliance with approved standards amid concerns over the project’s technical specifications.
The inspection focused on progress, construction quality and the need to clarify the project’s scope and measurements to beneficiary communities. The road is being constructed by Maritalia Construction Company.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 16, 2026, COSA Secretary, Salihu Saidu, said the exercise was intended to address public concerns and misconceptions surrounding the road’s measurements and technical standards.
The coalition said transparent monitoring and constructive engagement with relevant stakeholders were essential to ensuring that the project meets its intended objectives and delivers lasting benefits to the communities.
COSA also commended Niger State Governor, Umar Mohammed Bago, for his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and efforts to improve the lives of residents of Shiroro Local Government Area and other parts of the state.
The association expressed hope that the governor would sustain the initiatives and extend more development projects to communities across the state.
COSA reaffirmed its commitment to responsible advocacy, project monitoring and constructive engagement to promote accountability and sustainable development.
The statement was also issued by Abdulraham Babafada, the coalition’s Publicity Secretary.
